It aims to bring together the best local cricket talent in India, providing them with a platform to display their abilities, as stated in an ISPL press release.
The league aims to expand globally and become an international platform, nurturing future cricket stars and enhancing the cricketing landscape in urban areas.
Its launch was marked by a thrilling opening ceremony attended by cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, and actors Akshay Kumar, Saif and Kareena Kapoor-Khan, Suriya Sivalkumar, and Ram Charan, who also own teams, adding to the league’s allure.
In the first season, six teams will compete for the championship over the next 10 days. These teams are Majhi Mumbai, Srinagar ke Veer, Chennai Singams, Tigers of Kolkata, Falcon Risers Hyderabad, and Bangalore Strikers. The winning team will claim the prestigious trophy and a substantial cash prize.
