Gautam Gambhir Gives A Brilliant Statement On Hanuma Vihari: India’s middle-order batter and former Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane continues to struggle with his form as he has failed to contribute with the bat once again in the ongoing series decider third and final Test match against South Africa in Cape Town.

Ajinkya Rahane, who has been going through the worst phase of his career, hasn’t enjoyed great success ever since his heroics at the Gabba Test. Time and again, he has failed to deliver with the bat leaving the fans disappointed with his performance. Though he showed signs of improvement in the second innings of the second Test match with a strong partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, however, he failed to produce a good knock in the ongoing Test match.

There were already questions being raised on his position in the playing XI of team India, and now today’s dismal performance has added more fuel to the fire.

Ajinkya Rahane, walked out to bat at number 5, after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara, who also failed to deliver with the bat and was dismissed for 9 runs by Marco Jansen. Putting India’s position in trouble in the ongoing game, Rahane could only manage to score 1 run from 9 balls and was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada. After his dismissal, India was left at 4 wickets down for 58 runs at the time of his dismissal.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and world cup hero Gautam Gambhir has stated that veteran player Hanuma Vihari should get the opportunity instead of Rahane. In the live broadcast, Gambhir suggested that it is the time that Hanuma Vihari is brought in for Rahane. He said:

“Hanuma Vihari should get the first opportunity now. He should be backed as much as Ajinkya rahane was backed, and if not more than at least for the 2-3 series.”
