Gautam Gambhir Is Getting Trolled By Virat Kohli Fans

Gautam Gambhir Is Getting Trolled By Virat Kohli Fans: The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, is regarded as the best batsman in the world right now. Over the years, Virat has played many match-winning and game-changing knocks for team India. Several cricketers and former cricketers hail Virat as the modern legend of this game. However, he is often compared with the Australian cricketer Steve Smith.

While Virat is a legend of the ODI format of the game, Steve Smith is one of the best in the longest format of the game.

Recently, in an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Gautam Gambhir heaped praises on the Australian star batsman for his performances in the first two ODI games. However, while praising Steve Smith, Gautam Gambhir went on to compare Steve with Virat Kohli and despite the difference in stats, Gambhir asserted that Steve Smith isn’t too far away from Virat Kohli in the ODI format of the game.

Gambhir also said that Kohli might have better numbers but Steve had a greater impact in the last two games where he scored back-to-back centuries. Gambhir said:

“This is pure class and he isn’t that far away from Virat Kohli. We keep talking about Virat Kohli, (and asking) is Virat Kohli the best ODI batsman in the world ever. Steve Smith isn’t that far. Getting a hundred in 18 overs and getting two back to back hundreds in 60 balls is no joke. Yes, Virat Kohli will always have better numbers but look at the impact Steve Smith has had in the last two games,”

He added:

“It is going to be tough for India. I am telling you, even in the third game and probably going forward as well. This is just the start of this long tour. If India doesn’t find something (about) how to get Steve Smith out, it is going to be a long, long tour for the bowlers,”

“He has a huge appetite for runs and it’s just the start now. Once he goes into the Test format with this kind of form, if he gets in, it’s going to be troubling times for India,”

Meanwhile, in the ongoing 3rd edition of the game, while Virat Kohli became the fastest cricketer to complete 12000 runs in the ODI format of the game, breaking the record of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. On the other hand, Steve Smith flopped in the 3rd ODI as he was dismissed after scoring only 7 runs.

As soon as Smith was dismissed, the fans on social media already started trolling the former Indian cricketer for his statement. While many are comparing the stats of Virat and Smith, on the other hand, there are many who are trolling Gambhir after Smith failed to perform today.

Here, check out how Twitterati are trolling Gautam Gambhir:

@beingneha07 aftr last match gambhir said smith not far away to reach kohli’s record ….. Now today Smith got out cheaply ?? unreal jinxing ??

Even Steve Smith wouldn’t agree with Gambhir.
In ODIs, Virat has played with unbelievable consistency, played lot of match winning knocks under pressure.
Steve Smith is great but scoring back to back centuries on concrete pitch is not enough to compare with Kohli.
