India’s opener Gautam Gambhir praised his former India teammate Rahul Dravid for declining the Honorary Doctorate from Bangalore University. Dravid is one of the most respected cricketers, not only in India but in world cricket. Dravid, who is currently the coach of India U19 and India ‘A’, declined the Honorary Doctorate saying he would like to earn it by doing some research in sports. After this news broke, Gautam Gambhir took to Twitter and wrote that he is proud of Rahul Dravid and “earning” it is the right way. Gambhir added that Honorary positions should never happen as the country needs real heroes and not honorary.

Gambhir has always been very vocal about issues related to cricket and these days he has been taking interest in things other than cricket as well. From Indian army to politicians, Gambhir shares his opinions in a very fearless manner through this Twitter account, these days. Gambhir has a following of close to 3 million on Twitter and his tweets on Rahul Dravid declining the honorary doctorate were liked by almost everyone who read it.
