The much-awaited action of the Indian Premier League will kickstart on September 19th in UAE, and fans, cricket experts, former and active cricketers are discussing the upcoming talents in the cricket world, as they just can’t wait for the upcoming league to start.
Gautam Gambhir Reveals Who Can Be The Next AB de Villiers
In the same light, recently, former Indian cricketer and World Cup hero Gautam Gambhir was all praises for Nicholas Pooran, who is a Trinidadian cricketer who plays for the West Indies cricket team.
South African GOAT AB de Villiers, who is known for his powerful technique of hitting shots in all the corners of the ground, is often called ‘Mr.360-degree’ because of his technique. Gautam Gambhir feels that just like Villiers, Nicholas has also got amazing techniques of hitting the shots.
Well, recently, in interaction with Star Sports, Gautam Gambhir expressed his opinion on the left-hander, who performed amazingly well in the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League. Gambhir opined that Nicholas Pooran is the all-round player just like South-African legend AB de Villiers. He said:
“For me, Nicholas Pooran is the young player I would like to watch in this IPL. We talk about AB de Villiers as a 360-degree player, but Nicholas Pooran has all types of shots. He can play the reverse sweep, normal sweep, and is capable of playing the big shots,”

Further, Gambhir said that that it would be interesting to see how Nicholas would be able to make his best use, under the guidance of Anil Kumble, former Indian cricketer who is currently fulfilling the duties of Director of Operations Kings XI Punjab. He said:
“So such a player, when he plays under a coach like Anil Kumble, I have full confidence that Anil Kumble will be able to extract the best out of him. A great coach, who had won Mumbai Indians the title, I would want to see what he can do with the Kings XI,”

Earlier, Scott Styris also opined the same. He had said that Nicholas should be entrusted with bigger responsibilities if Punjab is looking for a good result in IPL 2020. He said:
“Players like Nicholas Pooran, who we have seen in the IPL, need to have bigger roles for their side. I think for Kings XI Punjab to have a big tournament, he needs to be given real responsibility,”
