In what is a piece of really massive news with regards to the IPL, former KKR skipper Gautam Gambhir is seeming close to a return to Kolkata after 6 years in IPL 2024.
Monday saw rumors mills buzz as reports emerged of Gambhir being approached by KKR for a homecoming back to KKR, where he had the majority of his success as a player and captain in the IPL.
Both of KKR’s IPL titles in 2012 and 2014 were delivered by Gambhir, who spent 7 seasons at KKR from 2011 to 2017.
He returned to Delhi in 2018 but dropped himself mid-season and soon retired. After spending a few years in the commentary box, Gambhir returned to the IPL in 2022 in the role of a mentor for the newly-minted Sanji Goekna-owned Lucknow Super Giants franchise.
There are strong reports and a high chance that Gautam Gambhir is returning to KKR
Under Gambhir and head coach Andy Flower, LSG had good success, reaching the playoffs in their first seasons, but failed to reach the final.
Now, it has been strongly reported that while LSG are looking to rope in Justin Langer as their new head coach to replied Andy Flower, Gauti has been linked with a comeback to KKR after 6 years.

Gautam Gambhir could return to KKR in the role of a mentor, or assistant coach, or a batting coach. Chandrakant Pandit, who was signed by KKR last season as their new head coach, will be retained, and Gambhir’s addition will be a big boost to KKR who failed to reach the playoffs in IPL 2023.
Gautam Gambhir brings with him vast IPL experience and a great pedigree of winning big titles. He helped India win the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 World Cup before leading KKR to twin IPL titles.
