Gautam Gambhir has been making a lot of news these days for his statements in the field of cricket as well as politics. On one hand, he is being criticized for his recent statements on MS Dhoni’s rotational policy during 2012’s Australia tour, on the other hand, he is being criticized for missing out on an important meeting called by Parliament’s Standing Committee.
Air Pollution in Delhi has become a grave concern for the citizens. However, even after the supreme court’s stringent remarks and the condition of choking Delhiites, didn’t mean anything for officials of the parliamentary committee who were asked to attend the meeting to check the way to reduce the air pollution. Only 4 officials turned up for the meeting, which was eventually canceled.
However, what angered the people was Gautam Gambhir, who was at Indore commentating at India-Bangladesh match. Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman took to his twitter and shared a few pictures of himself with Gautam Gambhir enjoying Jalebis. Sharing the pictures he wrote:
“Kabhi pohe se teekhe, kabhi jalebi se meethe … wonderful start to the day in Indoor, where we had breakfast outdoor ?”

Soon, people started trolling the cricketer turned politician for enjoying jalebis instead of attending the meeting. People left no stone unturned to slam Gambhir. Meanwhile, missing posters of Gautam Gambhir surfaced in Delhi, in which a message read, “Lost. Have you seen this person? He was last seen eating jalebis in Indore. The entire Delhi is looking for him.”
Now, Gautam Gambhir has finally opened up about the incident and gave it back to the trolls. In a video posted by ANI, he said:
“Agar mera jalebi khane se Delhi ka pollution badha hai, toh main hamesha ke liye jalebi chhod sakta hoon…10 minute mein mujhe troll karna shuru kar diya, agar itni mehnat Delhi ki pollution ko kam karne mein ki hoti toh hum saas le pate.”
(which roughly translates to: “If my eating jalebis has caused pollution in Delhi, I will stop eating jalebis forever. You started trolling me in 10 minutes. Had you worked this hard on checking pollution in Delhi, we would be breathing better air today”)
