Gautam Gambhir Urged India To Let Ravindra Jadeja Bat At No. 5

Gautam Gambhir Urged India To Let Ravindra Jadeja Bat At No. 5: Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has turned out to be one of the biggest assets for team India with the bat as he smashed yet another blockbuster knock for India in the first T20 international against team Australia in Canberra.

On Friday, during the first T20I match against Australia, Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial knock as he scored 44 runs off 23 balls.

Ravindra Jadeja once again came out to India’s rescue after India found themselves in trouble at 114-6 with three overs to go. However, Jadeja provided the much-needed momentum to the game as he hammered five fours and a six during his knock. Battling his hamstring, Jadeja took the target to a competitive total.

However, during the last over he played, Jadeja suffered a concussion and was eventually replaced by Yuzvendra Chahal, who walked in and turned the tables for the team with his impeccable bowling. Chahal bowled four overs and took three big wickets. As per the latest updates, Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out for the rest of the series and Shardul Thakur has been included in the team.

Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer and world cup hero Gautam Gambhir feels that India should continue with Ravindra Jadeja for the fifth position. Gambhir urged team India to use Jadeja’s form. He said:

“I would probably want him to bat at number five because then you can have KL Rahul bat at number four, Virat Kohli at number three and then Jadeja at five, Pandya at six, and you can have another all-rounder at number seven. Use his form. My point has always been very simple. If you make someone bat at number seven, he will bat like a number seven. If you make him bat like a number four or five, he will bat like it and that is how it has always been with everyone,”

Further, Gambhir claimed that by pushing Jadeja to number 5, team India has the luxury to play another left-arm spinner like Axar Patel or Krunal Pandya. He said:

“You ask someone to open the batting and he starts thinking like an opener. Jadeja has got the ability. We all know that he has got the ability, he has a Test hundred, got runs in all conditions in white-ball cricket and why not push him at number five and see whether we can work with the combination because you open up one spot you can play a number six bowler who can chip in with overs. You can play another left-arm spinner like Krunal Pandya or Axar Patel,”
