Glenn McGrath Picks His ‘Top Two’ Favorite Batsmen And Bowlers From The Current Generation

Former Australian player Glenn McGrath is regarded as one of the finest cricketers to have ever played the game. The Australian pacer retired with most Test wickets among pacers. McGrath was a vital cog in the wheel for Australia during a period when they dominated world cricket. In of the recent events HCL Technologies during the World Economic Forum (WEF), the 49-year old opined his view on the current generation of cricketers.

Glenn McGrath picked the two best batsmen and the bowlers from the current players in international cricket. Among bowlers, the former Australian rated Kagiso Rabada and India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah as the two best bowlers going around. He talked quite highly of the two speedsters and even called himself a big fan of Rabada.

Bumrah is a unique bowler

Glenn McGrath reasoned on what makes them stand out among the rest of the bowlers. He was quite impressed with Bumrah, especially with his unique style of bowling that could be deceptive at times. He talked about the right attitude that has allowed him to succeed at the international level.

“Bumrah is quite a unique bowler. He doesn’t have a long run-up like a lot of fast bowlers have. But he has got a good pace, incredible control, and the right attitude. This South African bowler Rabada is an amazing bowler, I’m a big fan of his. I’m leaving Australian bowlers out of this list as I feel they all are great,” Glenn McGrath was quoted as saying by The Outlook.

Glenn McGrath picked Steve Smith and Virat Kohli as two best batsmen in the world. He acknowledged Smith’s unorthodox technique which produces great dividends for him. He even spoke of Kohli, about his class and how his aggression allows him to give his certain best on the field.

“Smith is a little bit unique; he is a little strange, he is not normal, but has got a great hand and eye coordination. Technically, he is not a textbook batsman, but the way he bats is amazing,” Glenn McGrath said.

“On the other hand, there is Kohli. He is a class player and is very technically correct. He is a little bit unusual and very aggressive on the filed, especially as an Indian captain, but he is a class player,” Glenn McGrath added.
