"Go Back And Score Runs" Shreyas Iyer Is Given A Huge Warning

“Go Back And Score Runs” Shreyas Iyer Is Given A Huge Warning – Shreyas Iyer’s Test career has been hampered by setbacks, notably on international trips when his technique against short-pitched deliveries has been judged lacking. His weakness to such pitches has often led to his demise, revealing a serious deficiency in his batting strategy. Despite signs of potential, particularly in other forms, Iyer’s struggles to adjust to the demands of Test cricket have continued.

Even in familiar circumstances at home, his recent efforts against England in the two Test matches have been underwhelming, with no significant contributions with the bat. This lack of success raises concerns about his ability to overcome his technical shortcomings and continuously play at the top level of the game. While talent is undeniably evident, the mental and mechanical qualities required for success in Test cricket look to be areas where Iyer can develop significantly. It remains to be seen if he can overcome these obstacles and establish himself as a consistent force in the lengthier format of the game.

Sarfaraz Khan’s selection to the Indian Test team is the consequence of his steady exploits in domestic cricket over the years. His outstanding performance on the home circuit has piqued the interest of selectors, giving him a well-deserved chance at international level. Sarfaraz’s participation puts pressure on the Indian team management to solve Shreyas Iyer’s difficulties in Test cricket.

Iyer’s recent poor performances have generated concerns, leading to demands for his removal by Sarfaraz. The brilliant batsman has struggled to perform consistently in the longer format, underscoring the need for a change in the middle order. Sarfaraz’s solid domestic record and ability to make an impact at the highest level make him an appealing contender for selection. As the team management deliberates on the roster for forthcoming matches, the focus remains on their choice on Iyer and Sarfaraz’s prospective position in the Test squad.

Shreyas Iyer Is Given A Huge Warning by Pragyan Ojha

In a recent interview with the broadcaster, Pragyan Ojha said that Shreyas Iyer may find himself in a difficult situation whenever veteran batsmen like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul return to the side. Ojha emphasised that players of Kohli and Rahul’s calibre will naturally reclaim their places in the playing XI because to their track record of scoring runs and stature in the squad.

Ojha claimed that this predicament might force Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar to make room for the returning stars. The statement highlights the competitive aspect of international cricket, where individual performances regularly influence team selection choices.

“Shreyas Iyer was left slightly behind. When you talk about great batters like Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul has also scored runs, when they return, they will automatically be part of the XI. So probably Shreyas Iyer and Rajat Patidar will have to make way because the situation is like that,” Pragyan Ojha said in a chat with the broadcaster.

“It’s not that you don’t want to give opportunities, but when great batters are coming and you don’t have that much room, you cannot give them the cushion. So go back and score runs in domestic cricket,” Ojha said.

Pragyan Ojha‘s comment illustrates the issue that selectors confront when it comes to providing players chances, especially when experienced and high-performing batsmen return to the side. Ojha appreciated the desire to provide prospective cricketers opportunities, but also highlighted the limits faced by the team’s restricted space.
