South Africa has been literally decimated by India in the ongoing ODI series. India is leading the series 3-0 and Kohli and his men have exhibited total dominance. Former South African skipper, Graeme Smith has slammed the South African team for poor show against India.

South Africa is already missing its key players who’ve been away due to injuries. AB De Villiers, Faf Du Plessis, and Quinton De Kock have been ruled out owing to their injuries. While AB De Villiers is expected to come back in the 4th ODI, Du Plessis and De Kock have been ruled out for the entire series as well as the T20 series.

Graeme Smith feels that the next generation of South African cricket does not seem ready at all. Here is what Smith told PTI

“India team is very deservingly 3-0 up in the series. While South Africa have lost three key players (AB de Villiers, Faf du Plessis, and Quinton de Kock to injuries but it also showed that next generation of South African cricketers is not quite ready to take it on,”

Smith, one of the most successful skippers for South Africa further added

“I think Cricket South Africa needs to think how they would want to blood and develop the youngsters in order to get them up to the level where they can perform. I am extremely disappointed with their performance but one must give credit to India as they have played outstanding cricket,”

Just like everyone else in the cricket fraternity, even Smith is in awe of the young spin duo of Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. Here is how he lauded the young duo

“But these are two exciting wrist-spinners, who controlled every game. South Africa simply have not yet found out a way to progress in those middle overs where they (Chahal-Kuldeep) have taken control of the game. That’s why India dominated.”

Now India is the favorite to win this series and tell the world that they would be playing the 2019 World Cup as the favorites.
