‘Grandfather Naseem Shah’: Indians Defend Shubman Gill After Pakistani Fan Trolls The Opener

Shubman Gill certainly had a scratchy outing against Pakistan in the Group A match of the Asia Cup 2023 in Pallekele last week. The young India opener scored 10 runs in 32 balls and was troubled by the pace and swing of Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah before being bowled by a high-pace delivery from Haris Rauf.

He got trolled badly on Twitter following his ugly stay in the middle against Pakistan. Shubman Gill will get another chance to avenge that poor outing when he takes on Pakistan again on September 10 in Colombe when the two sides meet in the Super 4 round in Colombo.

Pakistani fans are trolling Shubman Gill mercilessly on Twitter in recent days as the fans build up the clash in the Super 4 round.

One Pakistan fan tried to troll Gill with an image of Naseem Shah and captioned the picture “Shubhman Gill’s Grandfather. Circa 1953.” This Pakistani fan was then put back in his place by Indian fans who used images of Virat Kohli and Kuldeep Yadav to troll back the Pakistani team.

Indian fans hit back at a Pakistani fan who trolled Shubman Gill:

Shubman Gill returns to form vs Nepal

After his disappointing knock vs Pakistan, Shubman Gill rocked back to form against Nepal. He scored a breezy knock of 67* vs Nepal in India’s 10-wicket win. And this knock from Gill also saw him gain big in the ICC Men’s ODI batsman ranking.

Following his brilliant unbeaten half-century in a must-win game against Nepal, Shubman Gill reached a career-best rating of 750 rating points and is now placed 3rd on the ICC Men’s ODI Batsman Ranking. Babar Azam is ranked first in the ODI batting ranking and has rating points 882.

India and Pakistan will face-off once again this Sunday in Colombo. However, the weather for the next 10 days in Colombo is not good for cricket and heavy rains are forecasted for the coming days in the capital of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan have already kicked-off Super 4 round with a big win over Bangladesh in Lahore.
