Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has got one of his predictions spot-on: three days before the IPL 2022 mega-auction, he had predicted via a tweet that West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph will become a crorepati in the mega-auction.

This prediction turned out to be true: Gujrat Titans, one of the two new franchises in the IPL, bought Joseph for a sum of 2.4 crore at the mega-auction.

Harbhajan Singh had been impressed by Joseph’s high pace in the first two ODIs between India and West Indies. Joseph picked 6 wickets in 3 ODIs – including dismissing both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli twice in one over!!

His brilliance in the ODI series further added to his reputation as a wicket-taker bowler. It is not to forget that Alzarri Joseph holds the record for the best bowling figures in the IPL history – he returned with stunning figures of 6/12 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2019 IPL when he was bowling for Mumbai Indians.

After observing Joseph’s potency in the ODI series, Harbhajan made his prediction.

“Kon banega crorepati in the #IPLAuction I think ALZARRI JOSEPH will be a crorepati,” Harbhajan Singh had tweeted days before the auction.

As it turned out, a number of franchises were interested in Joseph at the mega-auction. But Gujarat Titans staved off competition from Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings to acquire the services of the West Indian speedster.

After bagging Alzarri Joseph, the Titans Twitter account lauded Harbhajan for his bang on prediction with this tweet that has legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan with a reference of the show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

After taking the best IPL figures on debut, however, Joseph played in only a couple of more matches for Mumbai Indians and didn’t get picked in the last two seasons by any franchise.

Overall, he has taken 41 wickets in 38 T20 matches for various teams. He has been a terrific longer formats bowler, and now with the Titans gets a chance to further his T20 career.
