Harbhajan Singh Backed Sanju Samson To Be Next Captain Of India After Rohit Sharma

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh didn’t hold back his opinion on the wicket-keeper’s position in the Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Amidst competition from players like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan believes that the Rajasthan Royals captain leads the pack in the race for the spot behind the stumps.

After witnessing Sanju Samson’s pivotal role in Rajasthan Royals’ triumph over the Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan not only endorsed him for the wicket-keeper position but also supported him to take over from Rohit Sharma as India’s T20I captain.

Currently, Hardik Pandya holds the vice-captaincy position in the Indian team for T20 cricket. Many believe he could be the next permanent captain after Rohit. However, Harbhajan has different views on this matter. He wrote:

“Yashasvi Jaiswal’s knock is a proof of class is permanent. Form is temporary @ybj_19 and there shouldn’t be any debate about Keeper batsman. @IamSanjuSamson should walk in to the Indian team for T20 world cup and also groomed as a next T20 captain for India after Rohit . koi shak???”

Sanju Samson has been exceptional for the Royals this season, guiding them to the top of the IPL 2024 standings after 8 games. Sanju is the second-highest run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals, having amassed 314 runs from 8 matches at an impressive average of 62.80 and a strike rate of 152.42. He has also recorded 3 half-centuries this season.

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya’s performance this season hasn’t been up to the mark, whether as a batsman, bowler, or captain.
