Harbhajan Singh Compares Surya Kumar Yadav To AB de Villiers: From thrilling super-overs to nail-biting endings, the just-concluded season of the Indian Premier League entertained the fans like no other seasons. There were many interesting ups and downs, highs and lows in the tournament. While many legendary players failed to perform, many young talents from the teams turned out to be the heroes for their teams.

Among many, Suryakumar Yadav, who is fondly called ‘SKY’ by his teammates has proved his mettle for his team Mumbai Indians, especially during the absence of Rohit Sharma. However, despite his brilliant performances, SKY wasn’t included in the playing squad for team India for the upcoming Australia tour.

Recently, speaking on Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’, Harbhajan Singh showered praises on Suryakumar Yadav. He heaped on praises on SKY about how he starts hitting from the word go. He also said that he has all types of shots.

Not just this, Harbhajan Sing also went on to compare him with AB de Villiers. He added:

“There is no doubt that Suryakumar Yadav has transformed himself from being the game-changer to a primary match-winner for the Mumbai Indians. He had taken up a lot of responsibility of their batting.”

He added:

“And it is not that he plays at the strike rate of 100, if you see his strike rate, he starts hitting from the first ball itself. It is difficult to stop him as he has all types of shots. He hits overs covers, plays the sweep also well, plays spin very well, plays fast bowling amazingly well. He is the Indian AB de Villiers.”

Harbhajan Singh also talked about SKY not getting selected for Team India for the upcoming tour to Australia. Bhajji opined that SKY should have been selected in the Indian squad. He said:

“I feel he should have been selected for the Indian team. It didn’t happen but he is not far away. He is an unbelievable player. The sort of batting Suryakumar Yadav has done, he has attracted everyone towards him.”

He also reckoned the fact that Suryakumar played a crucial role in Mumbai Indians’ win. He said:

“We talk about Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard, that they are match-winners but don’t forget that this year or last year or even the year prior to that, Suryakumar Yadav has made a big contribution for the Mumbai Indians. He has left a huge impression.”
