Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh took a jibe at Anil Kumble and co. for the disappointing run in the ongoing 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. Punjab Kings once again failed to make it to the playoffs stage in IPL as they finished at the sixth place on the IPL 2022 points table.

Punjab Kings’ Disastrous Run In IPL 2022

It has to be noted that, in the last four seasons, Punjab Kings tried three different captains however their position on the points table hasn’t changed. PBKS has finished sixth since 2019 and has been consistently failing to make it to the next stage of the cash-rich league.

In the recently-concluded season, Punjab Kings captain Mayank Agarwal, who scored 441 runs in 12 games last season, failed to give the best of his abilities and was looking under pressure because of captaincy duties. In fact, in IPL 2022, Mayank failed to score even the scores he made last year. In IPL 2022, he could only score 196 runs off the 13 games, with the highest scorer of 52.

Harbhajan Singh Slammed Anil Kumble and Co.

Meanwhile, former Indian bowler Harbhajan Singh slammed Punjab Kings’ management for their poor performance. Harbhajan didn’t mince his words while slamming Anil Kumble and co and said that the Punjab side was being run from outside.

Harbhajan Singh also said that Mayank looked suffocated with the responsibility of captaincy. He said: “If we talk about Mayank, I felt that ‘What has happened to him?’ He is such a good player. After getting captaincy, I think he was mentally under pressure. From opening, he went down to No. 4. The team was being led from the outside. He is just taking everything. He seemed suffocated. He should have been given freedom. He has been under the radar and surely that could have been a little better,”
