India’s stand-in captain Hardik Pandya blamed the loss of quick wickets in the middle overs as the reason for team India getting thrashed in the first T20I match against Windies. However, Indian cricket fans are blaming Hardik Pandya’s attitude to be one of the reasons behind India falling short in the first T20I game.

Fans were left disappointed with team India incurring defeat in the first T20I match of the ongoing 5-match series at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad. With this win, the Windies have taken an early 1-0 lead in the series. After restricting the West Indies to 149/6 in their 20 overs, team India made a horrific start to their innings as the openers — Shubman Gill (3) and Ishan Kishan (6) failed to fire up and were dismissed early in the game. Suryakumar Yadav looked uncomfortable at the crease and he scored 21 runs off 21 balls.

Young Indian player Tilak Varma, who was playing his debut match, was the only batter who showed intent and stole the show with his knock. He scored 39 runs off 22 balls but was dismissed in the 11th over. Hardik Pandya (19) along with Sanju Samson (12) too failed to take the team home. Arshdeep Singh gave some hope to the Indian fans, however, Windies won the game.

Fans Are Blaming Hardik Pandya’s Attitude For Team India’s Poor Performance

Meanwhile,  as West Indies defeated India in the first game by 4 runs, fans took to their Twitter to express their disappointment. There were many who trolled him for showing attitude and not performing well and blamed it as one of the reasons for India’s defeat. Many even trolled him for his ‘it’s okay to be unique’ remark.

For the unversed, during the ODI series, Hardik Pandya was asked: “India haven’t lost a bilateral ODI series in more than a decade Vs WI. You don’t want to be the captain to break the trend?”

To this, he had replied: “it’s okay to be unique”.
