Hardik Pandya Speaks On His Role In India’s Squad For Asia Cup And World Cup 2023

Hardik Pandya Speaks On His Role In India's Squad For Asia Cup And World Cup 2023

Hardik Pandya, the energetic vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, gave an exclusive interview to Star Sports on “Follow the Blues LIVE,” providing an unusual look at the complex position of an all-rounder in cricket. Pandya discussed the forthcoming Asia Cup and World Cup 2023, in which he will play a pivotal part and the specific difficulties he would encounter in meeting such obstacles head-on.

Pandya, being an all-rounder, has far more to do than a specialist batter or bowler. He elaborated on the difficulty of his job by noting that he often needs to work with the bat and the ball when other players simply do either batting or bowling. Pandya said that the preparation for this challenging undertaking starts throughout the training and pre-camp periods. When game time rolls around, it’s time to make judgements based on what’s best for the team in the here and now, and that includes how he fits in.

Pandya said, “When the game time comes, it’s about what the team needs. I’ll bowl 10 overs if that’s what it takes. In that case, I won’t be participating. The key is to assess the environment and adjust accordingly. His strategy stems from his unrelenting confidence and dedication to winning. A key to his success, he said, was his belief in his own potential. “I enter with faith, knowing that I am the only one standing between myself and the opponent. They expect me to mess up, but I have complete faith in myself.

Pandya’s unique viewpoint extends well beyond his bowling skills. When he steps up to the plate, he knows he’ll confront a similar mental barrier. “There may be two of us batting,” he admitted, “but there are eleven opponents on the pitch, and the crowd can also be a factor.” No matter what, have faith in yourself and know that you are the finest there is.

While Pandya conceded that having faith in one’s own abilities wasn’t a certain way to succeed, he emphasised that doing so would motivate one to work diligently towards their goals. This self-assurance is what makes him such a valuable addition to Team India and what makes him a standout as an all-rounder.

He said: “As an all-rounder, my workload is twice or thrice as anyone else. When a batter in the team goes and bats and finishes his batting and is heading home, I’ll still be bowling after that. So for me, all the managing, all the pushing, and everything happens during the sessions or my training or my pre-camp season. When the game arrives, it is more about whatever the team requires, and the managing side goes out of the park, and it is more practical calls that how many overs are needed for me. Because if 10 overs are not needed, there is no point in me bowling 10 overs, but if 10 overs are needed, then I’ll be bowling.

I always believed that I give myself a chance to succeed, which is by reading the game, which is by backing myself because I have always believed that when we go as a believer, when I’m standing there, yes, my ten players, my ten brothers are around me, but at the same point of time I’m alone. When bowling, I have to back myself to the fullest because the opposition, the batter, they want me to make a mistake. At the same point in time, as a batter, yes, two people are batting, and he is there with me fighting, but there are also eleven on the ground against me, and at the same point in time, it could be the crowd or anything.

So what I have realized is that no matter what happens, you have to back yourself, you have to believe that you are the best in the world. That does not guarantee you success, but at the same point of time, it does give you and it does guide you to work towards success, so practically back yourself.”
