Harry Brook Created A Massive Record In The Third Test: The England cricket team led by Ben Stokes kept the Ashes alive as Harry Brook slammed 75 runs before Chris Woakes and Mark Wood registered a stunning 3-wicket victory over Australia on day 4 of the 3rd Test match at Headingley.

England’s successful case of 251 runs has now cut their deficit to 2-1 in the ongoing series. The Ashes looked to be slipping away when captain Ben Stokes (13) and Jonny Bairstow (5) were dismissed by Mitchell Starc (5-78) after lunch. The England side was reduced to 171-6 and still 80 runs away from their target.

However, Harry Brook walked out to bat at number 5 and took the game by storm. Playing at his home ground, Brook showcased some amazing shots before falling with 21 runs needed as a dramatic Test awaited a late twist. Brook played a stunning knock of 75 runs off 93 balls, smashing 9 fours in his knock.

Australia missed out on continuing their winning streak in the ongoing Ashes series as Woakes and Wood finished the game for their side.

Mark Wood Created A Huge Record

Meanwhile, the England batter Harry Brook scripted history on Sunday as he became the fastest batter to reach 1000 Test runs in terms of balls faced during the third Ashes 2023 Test match against Australia at Headingley.

Before he took the field on Sunday, Harry Brook needed just 1058 balls to reach the milestone and in the process, he shattered the record held by New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme who achieved the feat in 1140 deliveries. Tim Southee is at the third position with 1167 balls while England opener Ben Duckett did it in 1168 balls.  When it comes to innings, Brook is the fifth-join fastest along with Herbert Sutcliffe and ED Weeks.

Both the teams will now meet for the fourth Test match at Old Trafford starting on July 19, with Australia now having two games to seal their first Ashes win in England in 22 years.
