In the cricket world, disputes are nothing new. They often show up in the middle of subpar performances, internal conflicts, and dubious choices. The Pakistani cricket team is now facing a number of issues and difficulties as they prepare to compete in the 2023 ICC World Cup. A well-known Indian pundit, Harsha Bhogle, has boldly said that the squad is having problems, especially with the Lahore Qalandars team and Shaheen Afridi’s aspirations to be the team captain.

The 2023 ICC World Cup performance of the Pakistan Cricket Team has been far from ideal. There is a sense of uncertainty and dissatisfaction stemming from their failure to win important games. The squad has been involved in a number of scandals, head selector Inzamam-ul-Haq’s sudden departure being one of them. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is under tremendous scrutiny as a result of this regrettable sequence of events.

Favouritism in squad selection is one of the main accusations made against the PCB. Concerns over the reasons behind the team’s composition have been voiced by several experts and cricket fans, who speculate that the selections may have been influenced by personal interests. The continuous discussion over Babar Azam’s suitability as the team captain has been intensified by these accusations.

The Pakistan Cricket Team’s captain at the moment, Babar Azam, has drawn a lot of criticism for his leadership and judgement on the field. Many have demanded that he be removed from the captaincy due to his lack of strategic vision and leadership. The strain on Azam has grown as the team’s results keep getting worse.

During this turbulent time for Pakistani cricket, eminent Indian pundit Harsha Bhogle made an astounding assertion. Bhogle said that the Lahore Qalandars team may be involved in the current disputes by pointing the finger at them. In addition, he voiced concerns about Shaheen Afridi’s injury history and preparedness for the captaincy.

The Lahore Qalandars franchise is quite influential in the cricket world, Harsha Bhogle said. He made a suggestion that this significant franchise was the source of the current disputes. Bhogle also questioned Shaheen Afridi’s selection as skipper considering his propensity for injuries and the heavy workload he faces as a bowler.

He said: “Lahore Qalandars are an influential franchise. You can see where the noises are coming from. It’s not that Shaheen might become a very good captain for all that you know. He is injury prone; he has got a lot of bowling to do.”

The name Shaheen Afridi has been mentioned a lot as a possible captain of the Pakistan cricket team. The quick bowler has shown his leadership abilities and promise by leading the Lahore Qalandars to two Pakistan Super League (PSL) championships in the past. His history of injuries, however, continues to be cause for worry.

He also added: “What if Pakistan win the next three, New Zealand capsize, suddenly Pakistan in the semis. Does that make Babar a good captain and Shaheen no longer a contender?”

Pakistan is now in danger of losing the ICC World Cup 2023. After four straight defeats, they will have a difficult time earning a trip to the semi-finals. They need to win all of their remaining games to be in the running. They managed to secure a comprehensive win against Bangladesh.
