Indian commentator and popular cricket analyst Harsha Bhogle slammed a media house for referring to Indian squad player Dipika Pallikal as ‘Dinesh Karthik’s wife’ in their headline.
Well, Dipika Pallikal, along with Saurav Ghosal and longtime teammate Joshna Chinappa, made India proud as they won the mixed doubles and women’s doubles titles at World Doubles Championships in Glasgow.
It has to be noted that Dipika was playing her first competitive event since October 2018 and she made a blockbuster come back into the game by bagging a mixed title with Ghosal. Sometime later, she once again repeated the feat in the women’s doubles final.
Dipika Pallikal has been receiving praises from all corners for her amazing performances. Praising her performance, a popular media house covered her achievements, however, it was the headline that triggered many. The headline of that article read:
“Dinesh Karthik`s wife Dipika Pallikal powers India to HISTORIC World Doubles Squash C`ships titles.”
Meanwhile, Harsha Bhogle took to his Twitter and called out the media house for referring to Dipika as ‘Dinesh Karthik’s wife’. He wrote that Dipika is a champion on her own and also wrote that he hoped that the publication would change the headline. He wrote:
“Hey @ZeeNews do you want to change your headline? It isn’t fair to @DipikaPallikal who is a champion in her own right. I hope you will.”

Well, we completely agree with Harsha Bhogle on this. Dipika Pallikal is a champion on her own and is not just a wife, she is a national champion and is making India proud at the international level.
Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar also praised Dipika via a special Tweet. He wrote:
