Here Is The Reason For Which BCCI Suspended Yusuf Pathan

The all-rounder Yusuf Pathan was suspended for 5 months after he was found in violation of the anti-doping norms of the board. Yusuf Pathan’s blood samples were found to contain terbutaline. Now the BCCI has put forth an official statement on the doping charges and the suspension of Yusuf Pathan.

Yusuf Pathan on being notified of the suspension pleaded innocence in front of the board. He was handed over a suspension in October last year. Pathan explained that he had not consumed the substance intentionally but since he was on the medicinal course due to a throat infection, he had consumed the substance.

Yusuf Pathan too put forth an official statement on the entire episode. He convincingly explained the entire episode and maintained that he was not guilty since he had not intentionally breached the doping policies of the BCCI. Pathan in the statement revealed that he had not intentionally consumed terbutaline.

BCCI CONTENDED WITH PATHAN’S EXPLANATION

The BCCI seems quite satisfied with the justification given by Yusuf Pathan. The board secretary took a note of the justification and confirmed that this substance is often found in most of the cough syrups. The secretary also revealed that the suspension period was in effect from August and will stay till the midnight of January 14.

After seeking expert advise the BCCI accepted the justification furnished by Yusuf Pathan and on the basis of that stated that the five-month period of ineligibility shall apply along with the disqualification of some results.

 

The official statement of the BCCI concluded:

“The 5 month ineligibility period will deem to have started from August 15 and end at midnight of January 14, 2018.”

Yusuf Pathan would be eyeing big in the IPL auctions that would soon get underway. Getting rid of his suspension before the Indian Premier League starts would be a big relief for the all-rounder. Pathan has not been retained by KKR for the next season.
