Virat Kohli is scoring centuries after centuries like a king and there’s no stopping him. Having scored three handsome tons in the ODI series that just concluded, Kohli now has 35 ODI centuries. In the 6th ODI which Indian again won convincingly, Virat Kohli reached another milestone. Virat Kohli is now the fastest batsman ever to get to 17000 ODI runs.
Now when he’s just 14 ODI centuries behind Sachin Tendulkar, everyone is asking if he’d be able to surpass the great little master. Sachin with 49 ODI hundreds holds the record for maximum ODI tons. After just 208 matches, Virat Kohli is already redefining consistency, performance, and fitness.
Here’s what Sourav Ganguly Has To Say
The former Indian captain compared Virat Kohli to Sachin and said
“One man Virat Kohli like I said at the start of the tour that India will play well if Kohli plays well and he has just smashed it in the one-day series and hats off to him. I have seen Sachin, this fellow is right up there in one-day cricket,”
Sourav Ganguly further added
“If he keeps playing like this, the record will go someday. The form is something very important in cricket and still, 14 hundred are left, which is a long long way. If anybody gets past Sachin’s 49, it will be this man.”
Sourav Ganguly feels that if there is anyone who can surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record then it is Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has put forth a narrative that he has made it habitual to score centuries and the manner he is going in it seems like he would easily go past Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
Do you think Ganguly is right?
