Here’s How Dinesh Karthik’s First Marriage Failed

Just a couple of months away from turning 37, veteran Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik is amid a purple best – perhaps the best he’s ever batted in white-ball cricket – and knocking on the doors of the national selectors three years after he was dropped.

Karthik has taken the IPL 2022 by storm: in 7 matches for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Karthik has scored 210 runs and has been dismissed only once- but, more importantly, he’s smashed these runs at a strike rate of 205! RCB have won 5 out of their 7 matches, and DK played a significant role in four of these wins, bagging two Man of the Match awards.

People are also relating this great professional run to the happiness DK is having in his personal life. He recently became the father of twin boys, when his wife, Dipika Pallikal, an Indian squash player, gave birth to them on 18 October 2021.
However, Karthik’s personal life had plummetted to a depressing low when his marriage with his first wife Nikita Vanjara was damaged. Yes – Dipika Pallikal is Dinesh Karthik’s second wife. Karthik and Nikita got hitched in 2007 but their marriage ended 5 years later. A Twitter user, by the handle of @oyevivekk, detailed Karthik’s career and the breakdown of his first marriage with Nikita.

“DK was doing very well and was the 2nd wkt keeper to Dhoni in the Indian team and was captain of TN. His team mate Murali Vijay was having an affair with his wife and the entire TN Ranji team knew this but not DK,” the user tweeted.

This Twitter user further claims, “Finally one day she told him she was pregnant carrying Murali Vijay’s child and wanted divorce. They had a divorce and she moved in with Murali who was opening for CSK and India and doing really well.”

“DK was shattered, went into deep depression, became a devdas, his performance dipped, he was dropped from the India squad. He started failing in Ranji and lost his captaincy to Murali Vijay.

“He started failing in IPL too and was so depressed felt let down by his Ranji team mates and wanted to commit suicide. He stopped going to the gym. His trainer visited him in his house and found DK in a complete mess. He insisted Dk start his training again and got him back to the gym where he was training Deepika Pallikal also.

“Encouraged by Deepika, DK started nets and scored heavily in the domestic matches. He was back in reckoning, was again selected for white ball cricket for India and became the captain of KKR. He married Deepika [in 2015].

“At 34 he knew his time was up and he was dropped from KKR as captain.He wanted to retire and just play IPL. His wife got pregnant and they had twins.

“Deepika played the world championship at Glasgow in squash 6 months after delivery and won both the mixed doubles and womens double with Joshna Ponnappa. An energised father, now DK started kicking a**, won crucial matches for RCB.

“He is now back with a bang and wants to make it into the T20 WC team as finisher in place of retired MS. Hope he really makes it. Amazing couple DK and Deepika,” the user concluded this inspirational story of comeback man Dinesh Karthik.
