Ever since the news came out, everyone is talking about the couple and their lesser-known love story which was nothing but inspiring.

Dhawan first came across Ayesha’s profile on Facebook and figured that his good friend Harbhajan Singh was a mutual friend. Shikhar asked Bhajji to introduce him to her and even though he was skeptical at first, but he decided to give it a shot.

Ayesha was a kickboxer and a huge fitness enthusiast. She was also an Australian of Indian origin and their love seemed to have many challenges right from the beginning. Dhawan was nervous as he thought why would she talk to her?

But soon Dhawan got introduced to her and they began speaking regularly. Soon, their friendship blossomed into something more and both of them had fallen in love with each other.

However, it was anything but easy for the couple as when Shikhar Dhawan introduced Ayesha to his family, seeking approval for their marriage as they were against it. Ayesha was 10-years elder than him and was also a divorcee with two children already. But Dhawan wasn’t someone who would give up that easily. He kept persuading his family to believe in his love and after much cajoling, they finally relented.

It was in 2009, when the couple got engaged however they didn’t tie the knot. They waited for three long years till he became an integral part of the Indian setup. After he established himself as an Indian cricketer, he asked her ‘the question’ and they finally got married in 2012.

Dhawan adopted both the daughters of Ayesha happily and started living like a happy family. In 2014, the couple was blessed with a baby son, Zoravar. However, not every love story has a happy ending and Shikhar Dhawan’s love story was one among them.
