Here’s The Real Story Behind Sanjay Manjrekar’s Exit From The Commentary Team

Former Indian cricketer and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar’s exclusion from the commentary panel by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), has become a significant talk of the town.  A lot of rumors have been going around regarding his exclusion from the panel. But what exactly was the reason that BCCI chuck Manjrekar out of its team?

There are speculations that the reason behind his exclusion from the panel was because of him being critical of a few Indian cricketers. The reason can also be because he undermined his fellow commentator Harsha Bhogle on air or because he has differences with the new President of BCCI Sourav Ganguly.

While there has been no clarity over why Manjrekar was dropped from the commentary panel, but if reports are to be believed then the BCCI was not happy with his works.

Many people believe that it was his Sanjay Manjrekar’s rude behavior that has now led to his ouster from the team. However, seems like there was more that has led to his exclusion from the panel.

Recently, a popular website Sportskeeda spoke to several sources about this and came up with an exact reason behind Manjrekar’s ouster. They revealed that Sanjay Manjrekar didn’t toe the line of the BCCI bigwigs.

Also, Sanjay Manjrekar was very vocal about BCCI President Sourav Ganguly’s conflict of interest controversy. Well, for the unversed, before Sourav Ganguly took over the position of president of BCCI, he was holding multiple positions – including that of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president and also the mentor of the Delhi Capitals team.

This might also be the reason that Sourav Ganguly didn’t make any big ceremonious exit from the panel or talked more about it. As per the sources, Sourav Ganguly had been on a hunt to push his detractors out of the board. A sourced had printed out:

“Even when he was left out for the South African series, none of the commentators supported Manjrekar,”

Though BCCI had a lot of choices ahead of them for commentator but it might be too early to say that Sanjay Manjrekar’s career is over.
