Here’s Why Angry Indians Fans Are Unhappy With Sunil Gavaskar

India’s senior batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who was named the skipper of the Indian side for the first Test match in Kanpur, in the absence of the regular Indian skipper Virat Kohli, has found himself at the receiving end of criticism.

Rahane’s form has become a grave concern for the Indian side and the most talked about topic in the Indian cricket fraternity as of now. In fact, his form has put questions over his place in the Indian squad for the ongoing 2-match Test series against New Zealand.

Here’s Why Angry Indians Fans Are Unhappy With Sunil Gavaskar

While Rahane played down concerns over his batting form, insisting that he isn’t worried about scoring centuries but is focused on contributing to the team’s cause. However, Rahane, who has been going through a rough phase with the bat for a long time, failed to deliver when the team required him the most. He only managed to score 35 runs in his first innings while he was dismissed quickly in his second innings for just 4 runs to his name.

Meanwhile, apart from Ajinkya Rahane a few experts and commentators are also receiving flak from the angry fans. Commentators including Sunil Gavaskar and VVS Laxman recently backed Rahane and stated that the senior cricketer should get more opportunities to prove his worth.

Time and again, Sunil Gavaskar has come out in support of Ajinkya Rahane and has often claimed Rahane as the ‘real target’ of team India’s politics. As the Indian skipper, Virat Kohli will return back to the team in the second Test match against New Zealand, Sunil Gavaskar and VVS Laxman feel that Rahane should get another opportunity in the game.

Fans on social media are not happy with the biased backing for the Mumbai-based batter after his back-to-back poor performances.

Had Kohli made these debatable decisions the mumbai lobby would have already handed over the captaincy to Sharma.
Rahane’s decision have already cost India atleast 50-75 runs this test. https://t.co/9r56co5V5Q
