Here’s Why Every IPL Fan Should Be Thankful To Charu Sharma

Celebrated sports commentator and quizmaster Charu Sharma came to BCCI’s rescue as he took over as the auctioneer at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 auction on Saturday in Bengaluru. Charu Sharma replaced auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, who collapsed midway during the first session of the mega auction and fell flat on the ground.

“Mr. Hugh Edmeades, the IPL Auctioneer, had an unfortunate fall due to Postural Hypotension during the IPL Auction this afternoon,” IPL updated after the incident.

Here’s Why Every IPL Fan Should Be Thankful To Charu Sharma

Charu Sharma, who has been a commentator for multiple sports in the past, is a Bengaluru resident and the director of the famous Pro Kabaddi League. His association with the IPL dates back to 2008 when he was working with the Royal Challengers Bangalore as its CEO.

Charu Sharma impressed everyone with his amazing presentation skills. However, not many are aware of the fact that he was reached the venue within half an hour, all suited up, and was only briefed for an hour and he was good to go.

RCB’s content and digital head — Ajith Ramamurthy took to his Twitter and shared the ‘IPLMegaAuction Story’ via his official Twitter handle. He also revealed how Danish Sait offered to take up the responsibility as Hugh Edmeades’ replacement, however, since he is associated with RCB, BCCI reached out to Charu Sharma. He wrote:

#IPLMegaAuction story: When the unfortunate incident with Hugh happened, the first priority for bcci was to ensure he gets the treatment he deserves. Once that was sorted, they had to find a replacement and act immediately. (1/3)

.@DanishSait offered to take up the responsibilities, but him being with RCB might have been a small problem. Bcci then contacted Charu Sharma, and within half an hour, he came to the ITC Gardenia, all suited up. He was briefed for an hour and Charu was ready! (2/3)

He did a terrific job and the moment of the day was when the bcci thanked him, and Charu spoke about Hugh and wished him well. Great stuff! (3/3)”
