Here’s Why Greg Chappell Made A Desperate Call To Ravi Shastri

Here’s Why Greg Chappell Made A Desperate Call To Ravi Shastri: R Sridhar, the former fielding coach of India, believes that tough days at work are a “wonderful coaching opportunity.” Since these are days that no Indian cricket fan wants to remember, Sridhar not only reflects but cherishes them since they provided him with an “opportunity to learn.”

In Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 at Adelaide Oval before rebounding to win the Melbourne Cricket Ground and win the series 2-1, despite being written off following their record low against Australia in the pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval.

When India was bowled out for 78 by England earlier this year in the Pataudi Trophy, it was a similar low. Despite this, India beat England at the Oval to take an early 2-1 lead in the five-match series, with one Test remaining after it was called off owing to a Covid-19 concern in the Indian team’s camp.
“It was a tremendous chance to learn,” Sridhar stated when discussing the team’s reaction to failures like this one. “In my opinion, terrible days are an excellent chance to teach. Having a fantastic day is not a terrific opportunity to coach, but having a horrible day is! When I talk about coaching opportunities, I’m talking about getting to know the players and having the chance to train them both technically and psychologically if necessary.

You get to know the players and the squad. What your team is like on a bad day reveals a lot about them,” stated R Sridhar in a recent interview. In terms of perseverance, he said, “this squad was exceptional.”

Ravi Shastri was able to turn every terrible day into a gold mine: R. Sridhar.

Former India Head Coach and Australian Captain Greg Chappell contacted Shastri to inquire how India bounces back from such low points during their playing days.

“Greg Chappell recently contacted Ravi Bhai and asked him, ‘How the heck do you bounce back after so many losses? That’s the standard by which we measure ourselves. Every terrible day was harnessed like a gold mine under Ravi Bhai.

To me, leadership traits and man-management abilities are the most defining characteristics of Shastri. It didn’t matter whether it was from the CoA or the BCCI; he could get things done. To succeed, he needed to have a large frame, which he possessed. As a man of the game, he understood the needs of the players and worked to keep them happy—one of the best managers in the business,” concluded Sridhar.

After India’s humiliating tour to England in August 2014, Shastri was brought in as the Team’s director of operations. Indian Team reached the semifinals in both the 2015 ODI World Cup and 2016 T20 World Cup and the top of the international rankings for eight months under his reign. During an interview with India Times, Shastri said that he had not received a sufficient explanation for his dismissal as Team Director, despite India’s success under his leadership.
