“I love playing ODI cricket”: Virat Kohli Made A Big Statement Ahead Of Asia Cup 2023

Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli is hailed as one of the best batters to have graced the game. While he is brilliant in all the formats of the game, however, he feels that the 50-over format brings the best out of him. With the Asia Cup starting today, the Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli feels that the 50-over format brings the best out of him.

Virat Kohli Made A Big Statement Ahead Of Asia Cup 2023

Speaking to Star Sports ahead of the Asia Cup 2023, Kohli talked about the technical challenges and the strategic decision-making skills required to excel in the format, along with the adaptability needed throughout the game.

“I love playing ODI cricket. I think for me, ODI cricket is probably the one format that tests your game completely. Your technique, composure, patience, playing the situation, and playing differently in different phases of the game,”
He added:
“So, I think it tests you as a batsman completely, and I feel the ODI cricket has always brought the best out of me because I like to embrace that challenge and play according to the situation to help my team win.”

“I have always tried to do that, so yeah, as I said, it gives me an opportunity to test myself regularly, all aspects of my batting, and that’s why I really enjoy playing ODI cricket,” 

It has to be noted that Virat Kohli has an imposing record in the ODI format of the game, averaging 66 when batting second and 48 when batting first. So far, he has smashed 46 centuries, 26 of which have been scored during run-chases, setting a record for the most centuries scored when batting at second.

The Indian cricket team will kickstart their campaign in the Asia Cup 2023 with a clash against arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday in Pallekele.
