With the Champions Trophy underway, a lot of talk has been around the Indian team and their strong lineup. With the likes of Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit, India’s batting is very sound and could destroy any bowling line up in the world on a good day. The other end of the spectrum too looks extremely strong. India’s bowling lineup looks ominous and could wreak havoc. We take a look at the bowlers who can do the damage:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar or Bhuvi is in one of the richest veins of form at the moment. After a good season against the likes of England and New Zealand, he was excellent in the IPL and went on to get his second purple cap in the annual T20 championship. Bhuvneshwar has the ability to swing the ball both ways and it will be interesting to see how he shapes up in the seaming conditions of England which play to his strength.
Jasprit Bumrah
Another young gun who has had a superb IPL, Bumrah is one player who has peaked over the last year or so. His bowling action and Yorker bowling ability set him apart and it will be fun to see how he is able to bowl them at will against the biggest teams in the world. Bumrah spearheads a trio of pacers and could prove to be the match-winner.
Mohammad Shami
The fast bowler who is back after a break is another one who looked good in the warm-up game against Bangladesh. He has the pace to disturb and cause problems for any batsmen in the world and will be crucial in the first few overs for India to get the important wickets.
Ravindra Jadeja
The batsman turned bowling all-rounder, Jadeja knows everything about the Champions Trophy having played a very important role in the last tournament that India won. Jadeja will be bowling in tandem with Ravichandran Ashwin and will be required to apply pressure on the batsmen in the middle overs. On spinning tracks, he can get important wickets and run through his overs with excellent speed.
Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is the fastest bowler in India and he has shown a lot of improvement in the last 12 months. He has worked extremely hard on his fitness and this has led to increase in his speed. Earlier, Yadav’s biggest criticism was his inconsistency. But, in the home season 2016/17, he bowled with a lot of consistency and impressed one and all with his ability to swing the ball both ways at pace.
