Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli was named the winner of the ICC Player of the Month award for October 2022. The International Cricket Council (ICC) on November 7 announced Kohli as the winner of the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award following a series of spectacular performances as he helped the Indian cricket team stamp their tickets for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-finals.

This was for the first time that Kohli was nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award. He celebrates his first Player of the Month prize after registering 205 runs with the bat, and showcasing some remarkable performances throughout October. He scored a brilliant half-century against the Netherlands in Sydney, and he produced a memorable inning in the stunning victory over Pakistan in front of a capacity crowd in Melbourne to kick off their Super 12 campaign in the Men’s T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, Virat secured the ICC Player Of The Month Award after being nominated for the first time, edging out a competitive field that included South Africa’s sublime finisher David Miller and the in-form Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, who both have impressed one and all with their magnificent performances.

Virat rewrote the history books yet again

Reacting to his  ICC Men’s Player of the Month prize, Kohli said: “It is a great honor for me to have been voted the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October. Being chosen as the standout player by fans across the globe as well as the panel makes this accolade even more special for me.”

“I want to pay tribute to the other nominees who performed so well during the month and also to my teammates, who continue to support me to perform to the best of my ability.”
