The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team is preparing to combat the Pakistan challenge in their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 opener on Saturday. The last time these two arch-rivals faced each other in a World Cup match, at the T20 World Cup 2021, Pakistan defeated the Indian cricket team by 10 wickets. The embarrassing defeat started a slide for India that the side could not stop and India was knocked out of the group stage. Ever since then, the Indian side has undergone some major transformation with Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid taking the charge of the team as captain and head coach, respectively.

The hype for the October 23 clash between the two sides has been building since the schedule of the T20 World Cup 2022 was announced. The Indian side has already reached Melbourne, the venue for much-awaited India vs Pakistan clash and they received a warm welcome from the Indian fans. 

India will enter the marquee tournament with high hopes of ending their 15-year drought and winning their second title. India will aim to reach the semi-finals for the fourth time in their eighth appearance at an ICC Men’s T20 World Cup before winning in Australia. In Group 2 of the Super 12, India will face Bangladesh, South Africa, and Pakistan, as well as the Netherlands and Zimbabwe.

India vs Bangladesh: 2nd November, Wednesday at 1:30 PM IST

India vs Zimbabwe: 6th November, Sunday at 1:30 PM IST

First round

Group A:Sri Lanka, Namibia, Netherlands, UAE

Group B: West Indies, Scotland, Ireland, Zimbabwe

The top two in each round-robin group progressed to the Super 12s.
