The Indian cricket team is sweating it out ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World cup 2022, which will get underway on October 16th. The Indian cricket team has already played a practice match against Western Australia and will be seen playing one more contest before kicking off their campaign against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne.
Team India faced an early exit in the last T20 World Cup which was held in the UAE. The Indian side had lost two consecutive matches early on in the tournament which eventually resulted in India’s early departure from ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. However, now with a change in captaincy and coaching, the fans are hoping for a change in fortune.
Meanwhile, ahead of the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan, Yuzvendra Chahal, who’ll be playing his first T20 World Cup, said that he won’t be at much pressure having already played against Pakistan earlier.
Yes, in an interview with Dainik Jagran, Chahal said: “When you’ve already played against a particular opponent, you don’t worry much when you face them again. However, there is lot of hype generated by media and internet ahead of the clash against Pakistan. But for us cricketers this is just like another match and if we think too much pressure certainly builds.”
He added: “I’m quite active on internet but I don’t allow myself to get bothered on what is being written out there.”
Further, Chahal also called Pakistan to be a good side but also mentioned that the side’s focus remains solely on their performance. He said: “Pakistan is a good team but the focus solely remains on our performance. The most important thing is how you perform on the match day, everything depends on that,”
The Indian cricket team will be playing its first match on 23rd October against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
