The catch by Cameron Green of India batsman Shubman Gill in India’s second innings during the WTC Final 2023 became a hot topic in the past 2-3 days with fans and experts giving their opinions and taking sides.
As the debate continues to rage on, the Twitter account of Iceland Cricket took a brutal and hilarious dig as Green and the third umpire in the WTC Final, Richard Kettleborough, who had given Gill out for a contentious, debatable catch by Green.
Iceland Cricket trolled Cameron Green with a funny tweet over Shubman Gill’s catch Controversy:

The Iceland Cricket quoted a tweet by Somerset Cricket which had posted a clip from their ongoing County Championship game wherein batsman Craig Overton was unfairly given out for a catch that had bounced off the ground.
In the video, Craig Overton tapped a big in-spinning delivery from an off-spinner on the legside. The ball clearly bounced off the ground, hit the short leg fielder and lobbed in the air for the fielder to take the catch. The umpire shockingly gave this out and the fans were left stunned when Somerset cricket uploaded the video of this dismissal through this horrible call from the on-field umpire.
Taking a snipe at Cameron Green and Richard Kettleborough, the Iceland Cricket tweeted: “Got him! Absolutely no doubt this was a fair catch. Hands clearly under the ball, just like Cameron Green.”

India captain Rohit Sharma expressed his frustrations with the third umpire. Rohit, in the press conference after the match, said that the third umpire seemed to have taken his decision in a haste and should have seen more replays before arriving at his call of giving Gill out.
“I just felt disappointed. I mean, the third umpire should have seen a little more replays, a little more of, you know, how the catch has been held,” Rohit said after India’s 209-run loss on Sunday. “I think it was three or four times he saw, and he was convinced with it. It’s not about whether it was given out or not out, you need to have a proper and clear information about anything. It’s just not about the catch, it can be about anything.”
