“I’ll Leave That To Jos Buttler” David Warner Gave A Hilarious Reply

Delhi Capitals opener David Warner was at his ruthless self with the bat as he hammered 92 runs off 58 balls against his former franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad, with whom he had a dreadful time last season as a cricketer and as a person.

This was his revenge. His stark redemption, reminding SRH of what they missed and what they have let go of. Warner’s stunning ball-striking was followed by Rovman Powell’s absolute brutal assault, the West Indian scoring 67 runs off 35 balls.

As Powell took down Umran Malik in the DC’s last over, David Warner didn’t get a ball to face and complete his century, remaining unbeaten on 92.

However, the Australian was more concerned that his three daughters would be upset for him missing out on the century. David Warner stated he doesn’t mind scoring runs in match-winning causes even if he doesn’t get his hundred, and hilariously suggested that the century-making job can be done by Jos Buttler, the Rajasthan Royals opener who is the current Orange Cap holder and has smacked 3 centuries, and 3 fifties, so far in the tournament.

“Hopefully they (his kids) are still asleep but I think they might be happy. But I still didn’t get a hundred! Jeebiess, that’s right! I’ll leave that (the hundreds) to Jos,” with a hearty laugh David Warner said in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Rovman Powell revealed the conversation he’d had with Warner before the start of the 20th over.

Realising that David Warner was just 8 runs short of a century, Powell, who was on 49 off 29 before the start of the last over, asked Warner if he’d want him to take a single and take the strike to reach the landmark. Warner straightaway told Powell to only look for boundaries and that’s how team games are played.

“At the start of the last over I asked him if he wanted a single to try and hit a hundred but he said, ‘listen, that’s not how cricket is played,’ and that I should try to smack it as hard as I can and I did that,” Powell told host broadcaster Star Sports after DC’s innings.

Playing all the six balls, Powell clattered for 19 runs in the last over (6, 0, 4, 4, 4, B1), and took DC’s score to 207. These 19 runs in the last over proved vital as Delhi won the game by 21 runs. This selflessness of David Warner won him applause from fans and experts.
