After losing the three-match Test series by 2-1, the KL Rahul-led Indian cricket team lost the three-match ODI series against South Africa as well. The Proteas thrashed the Indian side by 7 wickets in the 2nd ODI match to take an unaccessible lead of 2-0 in the series. Following the defeat, former South Africa spinner Imran Tahir has given his take on the performance of the Indian cricket team.

Imran Tahir, who is currently playing for the World Giants team in the Legend Cricket league, feels that India’s overconfidence is the biggest reason behind losing both the series against South Africa.

Speaking to ANI after the match against Asia Lions, Imrah Tahir blamed team India’s overconfidence for the defeat. He said:

“I don’t judge any team but India is a very good side and this South African team is just growing up and India misjudged them and they were overconfidence that they can defeat this team easily and this is the main reason for Indian side defeat,”

That’s that from the 2nd ODI.

South Africa win by 7 wickets and take an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the three match series.

Before the ODI series defeat, the Indian side lost the 3-match Test series by 2-1. Talking about the Test series defeat, Imrah Tahir said that defeating India in Test series is the biggest victory for the Proteas. He said:

“India dominating world cricket in Test and one day both from last 4 to 5 years but this Proteas team played very well and they took good advantage of their home conditions and turned it into victory,”

He added:

“This is the biggest victory than anything I believe this win is very special as this team is too young and they beat the nation who is dominating both formats for a long time. SA played so well and locked both series,”

Meanwhile, though, South Africa has now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series, the dead rubber – final ODI match set to be played on Sunday.
