IND vs AUS: A Big Record Rohit Sharma Is All Set To Break

News DeskBy News Desk19/09/2022Updated:09/02/2023No Comments3 Mins Read

After the rigors of the Asia Cup, the focus now shifts to the Australia series, as India brace themselves to face the defending T20 champions on home soil. This series will be the perfect opportunity for India to get their combinations right for the World Cup, as well as iron out the chinks in their Armor, as they get set to heal the scars of the past as well as justify their tag of pre-tournament favorites.

With Australia themselves resting a few key players, they still have a rather formidable set of players which will mean that India will have to be competitive game in and game out. It is a very crucial time for India as they face South Africa next, before flying to Australia.

This series will also be the perfect opportunity for Rohit Sharma to break a major record in the shortest format of the game. Having played 136 T20 internationals, and scoring 4 Hundreds and 28 fifties, the Hitman has cemented his place among the pantheon of greats in this format.

One of the players who makes batting look so easy when he is on song, Rohit Sharma is an absolute sight to behold when he is in full flow. At present, Rohit Sharma has hit 171 sixes in T20 internationals, a record that’s only bettered by New Zealand opener Martin Guptill, who has 172 of those.

This means that at any point in this Australia series, we will be seeing Rohit Sharma getting past that record. With Sharma needing only two big hits to go past Guptill, it’s only a matter of time before he gets past that, to have another feather in his cap as far as T20 internationals are concerned.

Being on the top of a list contains the likes of Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan, Aaron Finch and Guptill is certainly a huge achievement, but that will be the last thing on Sharma’s mind as he knows that he has a job to do, and that is to set a platform for the side by being his aggressive best, which ensures that India are in the front foot at all times.

With the batting firepower that Australia possess, the onus will well and truly be on Rohit Sharma as both captain and opener to come out all guns blazing. The country and the world looks on with curious interest as to what will India, and in particular, what wi Rohit Sharma do.
