IND vs AUS: Here’s Why KL Rahul Was Not Pleased With His Match-Winning Six

Finishing the game with a stunning six in a World Cup match would give unparalleled happiness to most cricketers but India’s KL Rahul looked disappointed after hitting the shot that helped India defeat Australia on Sunday.

Chasing a total of 200 runs for a win, the Indian cricket team started the innings on the worst-possible note. The Men in Blue lost Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer early in the innings. However, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli joined hands and helped India in making a comeback. Rahul showed extraordinary skills along with Virat Kohli on the field and took the team towards victory.

While Virat Kohli played a crucial knock of 116-ball 85, on the other hand, KL Rahul played a match-winning knock of 97 runs off 115 balls, smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes. Both the cricketers forged a match-winning 165-run partnership.

KL Rahul was on 91 runs when India needed five to win when the elegant right-hander hit Pat Cummins for a siz through the off-side to seal victory. However, he looked visibly disappointed with that shot.

Later, after collecting the player-of-the-match trophy for his stellar 97 not out, Rahul revealed that he wanted to hit a four and then go for a six to try to bring up his century. He revealed: “I hit it too well,”

He added: “I wanted to get a hundred by going four and six. Hopefully, some other time I can get it.”

Further, KL Rahul revealed that he had just taken a shower on a hot and humid day and was hoping for some rest but he had to rush out after India’s top-order meltdown. He said:

“I was hoping to put my feet up for half an hour after fielding, but I had to come in,”

Virat Kohli and KL Rahul together smashed the Australian bowlers to all the corners of the ground and together they frustrated Australia with their risk-free accumulation of runs. He said:

“Virat said we have to play proper shots and that I should play like Test cricket for some time and then see where it goes,”

He added: “That was mostly the plan and happy that we could do the job for the team.”

The Indian cricket team will now face Afghanistan on Wednesday.
