[IND vs AUS]: BCCI reveals The Head Coach Of India In Rahul Dravid's Absence

India, a cricketing powerhouse, suffered a heartbreaking loss against Australia in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Men in Blue had been nothing short of sensational throughout the tournament, winning all 10 games leading up to the World Cup final. However, their dreams of lifting the coveted trophy were shattered as Australia clinched victory, courtesy of a stellar Travis Head century and a sensational bowling performance in the first innings.

Undeterred by the World Cup setback, India is gearing up for redemption in the T20 World Cup 2024, scheduled for June. The first litmus test on their road to recovery is the upcoming 5-match T20 series against Australia at home, set to kick off in November 2023.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the squad for the T20 series, and there are notable inclusions and exclusions. Suryakumar Yadav, a standout performer in the World Cup 2023, not only retains his spot but also assumes the captaincy reins for the series. However, the absence of Hardik Pandya, who sustained an injury during the World Cup, leaves a void in the team’s leadership.

With the conclusion of the World Cup 2023, the contractual chapter of Head Coach Rahul Dravid came to an end. However, the cricketing fraternity awaits official word on whether his tenure will be renewed. In the interim, a report from The Indian Express hints at a coaching change for the upcoming T20 series.

According to sources, former India batsman VVS Laxman, currently the director of the National Cricket Academy, is poised to step into the coaching role for the series. Laxman brings a wealth of coaching experience to the table, having served as the coach for IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad for an impressive nine years before assuming his current role at the NCA. Notably, he has also acted as a stand-in coach for Team India on multiple occasions, showcasing his ability to guide the squad effectively.

As India braces itself for the T20 series against Australia, there is a palpable air of anticipation surrounding the team’s strategy and performance. The absence of Hardik Pandya will undoubtedly be felt, but the inclusion of dynamic players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Washington Sundar adds a layer of excitement.
