The Indian cricket team registered a big 188-run win over Bangladesh in the first Test match of the ongoing 2-match Test series on Sunday. With this win, the Indian side has taken the lead of 1-0 in the series and has also been successful in maintaining their winning record over Bangladesh. The Indian side played without the services of Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who was ruled out following a thumb injury.

Hitman had suffered a thumb injury during the 2nd ODI match against Bangladesh on December 7, following which he was ruled out of the third ODI and subsequently from the 1st Test match as well. It has now been reported that the right-handed opening batter has recovered and will soon join the Indian cricket team for the 2nd Test match.

Rohit Sharma To Return Back In 2nd Test

Rohit was replaced by Abhimanyu Easwaran in the squad, while Shubman Gill was given an opportunity to open the innings alongside Rahul. Shubman Gill opened for the Indian side and impressed one and all with his stunning performance. He registered his maiden  Test century in the second innings of the game. On the other hand, KL Rahul was seen leading the side in Rohit’s absence, despite poor form.

But if Rohit becomes available for the second match, then he is most likely to bat at the top order along with, batting partner KL Rahul, who has been struggling badly with his form. What will be India’s playing XI after Rohit’s comeback has become one of the most-talked-about topics in the cricket fraternity and a sweet headache for national selectors, ahead of the second Test match.

Ajay Jadeja Made A Big Statement Ahead Of The 2nd Test match

Meanwhile, during an interaction with Sony Sports, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja was asked about who should make for the Indian captain when he returns to the setup. Responding to this, the former Indian batter gave a fitting reply. He said that Rohit should remain at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), where he is completing his rehab. He said:

“Tabhi toh bol raha hu Rohit ko bolo ghar me baithne keliye (That is why I suggest Rohit should stay at home). When a player suffers a hand fracture and you cannot hold the bat for about 10 days, even if you recover, you cannot really join the team the very next day. It takes another 1- to 15 days. And we don’t even know the extent of the injury yet. That is why I suggest this. We are looking for a temporary solution and this is the best solution for it,”

The second Test match between Bangladesh and India will begin on December 22 in Dhaka.
