India’s Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara on Friday completed 7,000 runs in the longest format of the game. He achieved the feat on Day 2 of the ongoing 2nd Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla International Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Cheteshwar Pujara registered 90 and an unbeaten 102 in the first Test last week in Chattogram. He needed only 16 runs to complete 7000 runs in red-ball cricket and he reached the milestone during the first session of the second day’s play on Friday. Pujara smashed Shakib Al Hasan in the 19th over of the day to take three runs and achieve the feat. Pujara was dismissed by Taijul Islam on 24 runs. He ended the first innings with 7,008 Test runs.
Cheteshwar Pujara Joined Indian Batting Greats In An Elite List

The 34-year-old right-handed batter, who bats at No. 3 for India in the Test format of the game, joined an elite list of Indian batting greats as he became the eighth Indian batter to score more than 7,000 runs in Test matches. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Virat Kohli, Sourav Ganguly, and Virender Sehwag are the other batters who have achieved this milestone.
Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run scorer in the elite list of batters with the most number of runs in Test cricket with 15921 runs from 329 innings. Current Team India head coach Rahul Dravid is the second batter on the list with 13265 runs to his name. Pujara reached the 7000-run mark during his 166th inning of the 97th Test.
