Team India youngster Ishan Kishan produced a blockbuster performance in the third and final ODI match in Chattogram on Saturday as he entered the record books. He became the only fourth Indian to score a double century in ODIs. Ishan Kishan played a blistering knock of 210 runs ff 131 delivering at an incredible strike rate of 160.30. His powerful knock was studded with 24 fours and 10 maximums.
He completed his century in 85 balls and then he turned the beast mode on as 156 of his total runs came in just boundaries. All thanks to his stunning knock and Virat Kohli’s century, India posted a mammoth total of 409/8 in fifty overs in the final ODI.
Following the innings, congratulatory messages and wishes have been pouring in from all corners for the talented youngster. Veteran keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik also spoke in detail about Ishan’s performance in the final ODI against Bangladesh. Karthik showered praises on Ishan’s brilliant performance and stated that his knock will leave the team management scratching its head over the opening combination. It has to be noted that Ishan came in as a replacement for the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, however, he grabbed the opportunity with both hands and created havoc with his batting performance.
Speaking to Cricbuzz about Ishan’s performance, DK said: “It was beautiful to watch the way Ishan paced his innings after first five overs. The kind of shots he played, he took on bowlers consistently. The beauty about 200 was the strike rate; at 160, scoring a double hundred is special effort. He batted beautifully, the last 100 coming off 41 balls says a lot. That’s the skill, that’s why he has been picked by Mumbai Indians at such a high price,”
He added: “He’s somebody who is going to deliver. This, in many ways, puts the cat among the pigeons when it comes to the openers,”
Notably, with this knock, Ishan has joined the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (three times), Chris Gayle of the West Indies, Martin Guptill of New Zealand, and Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in the elite list of batters who have smashed a double ton in the 50-overs format of the game.
