IND vs BAN: “He Was Spot On With..” – Ishan Kishan Revealed How Virat Helped Him During His Powerful Knock Of 210 Runs

Young and talented Ishan Kishan shattered records as he played a sensational knock for the Indian cricket team in the third and final ODI match of the series against Bangladesh. Replacing Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan for the Indian cricket team and what followed was record breaking.

The 24-year-old left-hander smashed the Bangladesh bowlers all over the park as he registered a double century and entered the record books by becoming the fastest batsman in history to smash a double century in ODIs, in 126 balls, shattering the world record of Chris Gayle. Ishan Kishan played a blistering knock of 210 runs ff 131 delivering at an incredible strike rate of 160.30. His blockbuster knock was studded with 24 fours and 10 maximums.

Later after the match, in the post-match interview, Ishan Kishan said though he was happy to register a record breaking double ton, he would have been happier if he had batted longer in the innings. He said: “The wicket was too good to bat on. My intent was very clear. I am blessed to hear my name among such legends. I got out with 15 overs left. I could have got 300 also,”

Further, Ishan Kishan also revealed how Virat Kohli helped him during his knock. Ishan and Virat formed an amazing partnership with Virat Kohli, who played the role of the second fiddle. Together, they titched a massive 290-run stand for the second wicket. Speaking about how Virat calmed him down during his knock, Ishan revealed:

“I was batting with Virat bhai, and he was spot on with which bowlers I needed to select [to target]. I was on 95 and wanted to smack, but he calmed me down, saying it was my first hundred,”

Notably, this was also Ishan Kishan’s maiden hundred in the 50-over format. Ishan created history as he became the fourth Indian and seventh batter overall to score a double century in ODI matches. He has joined the likes of  Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma (three times), Chris Gayle of the West Indies, Martin Guptill of New Zealand, and Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman in the elite list of batters who have smashed a double ton in the 50-overs format of the game.
