Indian captain Rohit Sharma put up a stellar show with the bat as he lighted up the Shere-E-Bangla stadium on Wednesday by playing an incredible knock in the second ODI against Bangladesh. However, Rohit’s efforts went in vain as the Men in Blue endured a tough five-run defeat. With this defeat, Bangladesh took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, and the dead rubber will be played on Saturday in Chattogram.

Rohit walked out to bat despite injuring his left thumb earlier in the contest during Bangladesh’s innings. Rohit was rushed to the hospital for an X-ray as the ball hit his thumb while fielding at slips. But despite the injury, Rohit walked out to bat at number 9 with India starting at defeat in the 43rd over when the team needed 65 runs in about 7 overs. Rohit Sharma nearly pulled off an incredible win for the Indian side as he made a stunning half-century with a knock of 51 in 28 balls. His stunning knock was laced with 3 boundaries and five sixes.

Later, after the match,  during the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit confirmed that he has dislocated it but is relieved that it isn’t a fracture, which allowed him to bat in the latter stage of the Indian innings. He revealed:

“It (thumb injury) isn’t too great. Some dislocation and some stitches. Fortunately, not a fracture and so, I was able to bat.”

Rohit won the hearts of the Indian cricket community as fans, current players, and former cricketers lavished praise on his batting heroics with the bat in the 2nd ODI match against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, an old Tweet of Rohit Sharma has resurfaced on social media and is going insanely viral on the internet. In his old Tweet, Rohit had expressed his love and dedication towards his country. The tweet read: “I don’t just walk out for my Team. I walk out for my country.”
