IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma Achieved A Big Milestone With His Brave Knock

Despite India’s defeat in the 2nd ODI match against Bangladesh, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the hearts of cricket lovers all around the world with his brave knock. Rohit walked out to bat despite injuring his left thumb earlier in the game during the first innings. Rohit was then rushed to the hospital for scans as the ball hit his thumb while fielding at slips. 

Later during India’s innings, Rohit walked out to bat at number 9 with India staring at defeat in the 43rd over when the team needed 65 runs in about 7 overs. Rohit Sharma nearly pulled off an incredible win for the Indian side as he made a stunning half-century with a knock of 51 in 28 balls. His stunning knock was laced with 3 boundaries and five sixes.

Rohit Sharma’s stunning effort also etched his name in the records books as he completed a total of 500 sixes in international cricket. Rohit became the first Indian and only the second player in the history of the sport to achieve the milestone of completing 500 sixes in international cricket after West Indies great Chris Gayle.

Later, after the match, Rohit confirmed that he has dislocated it but is relieved that it isn’t a fracture, which allowed him to bat in the latter stage of the innings. He confirmed:  “It (thumb injury) isn’t too great. Some dislocation and some stitches. Fortunately, not a fracture and so, I was able to bat.” 

Due to the injury, Rohit Sharma will miss the 3rd and final ODI match against Bangladesh. The same was confirmed by the head coach Rahul Dravid, who also confirmed that pacers Deepak Chahar and Kuldeep Sen have been ruled out of the series too. He said: “Rohit Sharma will miss the 3rd ODI, he will fly back to Mumbai to consult an expert – Kuldeep Sen & Deepak Chahar are out of the series,”
