IND vs BAN: Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Gautam Gambhir's Mantra For Team India's Success

After a resounding 3-0 whitewash over Bangladesh, India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, underscored the importance of selflessness in his team. This emphasis came following India’s historic performance in the third and final T20I at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on October 12, where they set a new record.

Suryakumar Yadav Reveals Gautam Gambhir’s Mantra For Team India’s Success:

The Record-Breaking Innings

Sanju Samson, with his aggressive batting, propelled India to a formidable 297/6. Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Samson’s contribution was not just in numbers but in spirit, epitomizing the team’s ethos. He transformed his score from a brisk 62 off 30 balls to a monumental 92 off 35, including five consecutive sixes in a single over. This display not only boosted the team’s total but also showcased the kind of selflessness Suryakumar was praising.

Yadav’s Post-Match Reflections

During the post-series presentation, Suryakumar elaborated on the team’s philosophy. “I think we have achieved a lot as a team,” he began, emphasizing the collective success. He further highlighted the team’s approach: “I want to have selfless cricketers in my team. We want to be a selfless team.” This statement reflects a deep-rooted team culture where individual achievements are secondary to team success.

The Team’s Camaraderie

Suryakumar also touched upon the camaraderie within the team, which he believes translates into on-field performance. “We want to just enjoy each others’ performance on the field and off the field and spend as much time as possible,” he shared, indicating that this bonding session fosters a winning atmosphere. This approach was evident when players celebrated Samson’s century as much as they would their own.

Learning from Legends

The captain also recalled advice from cricketing legends like Gautam Gambhir, who emphasized team over individual milestones. “Gauti bhai said the same thing at the start of the series and when we went to Sri Lanka as well: ‘no one is bigger than the team’,” Suryakumar recounted. This mantra was vividly demonstrated when Samson, needing just one run for his century, chose aggression over caution, prioritizing team needs over personal records.

Suryakumar’s vision for his team is clear: a group of players who not only perform but also embody selflessness. The victory over Bangladesh was not just a testament to their cricketing skills but also to their unity and shared spirit. As India moves forward, this ethos will undoubtedly play a crucial role in shaping their future successes.
