IND vs BAN: Wasim Jaffer Wrote A Special Tweet For Lethal “Weapon” Umesh Yadav

India continued their domination in the Test series against Bangladesh as they bowled the hosts out for 227 on Day 1 of the second Test, in Dhaka, after Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to bat first on the pitch that had support for pacers.

After observing the grass on the surface at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, India made the big call of dropping the Man of the Match of the first Test in Chattogram, Kuldeep Yadav, who took 8 wickets, and replaced him with Jaydev Unadkat, who played his first Test since making his 2010 and only his second Test.

India’s decision was vindicated as Umesh Yadav and Unadkat combined to take 6 wickets while R Ashwin snapped up 4 wickets.

The absence of the injured pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami has allowed Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Siraj to play in the two Tests. Umesh had taken only 2 wickets in Chattogram, however, one can say that he did his job of restricting the run flow on the slow, low, and turning pitch in the first Test.

Here in Dhaka as Umesh got a helpful surface, he was menacing with the ball and troubled the Bangladeshi batters with his pace, the seam movement and the extra bounce that he extracted from the surface. Yadav ended up with terrific figures of 15-4-25-4. His wickets comprised Shakib, Mehidy Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, and Khaled Ahmed.

IND vs BAN: Wasim Jaffer Wrote A Special Tweet For Lethal

Former India batsman Wasim Jaffer hailed Umesh Yadav for his brilliant “attitude and fitness” that he has shown over the years. Jaffer highlighted that Umesh has so often delivered in not-so-pace-friendly conditions in India and Asia, toiling hard for each of his wickets in these unhelpful conditions.

“He’s used as a weapon by the Indian Test team and he almost always delivers. His attitude and fitness is something all young fast bowlers should aspire to. Figures of 15-4-25-4, well bowled @y_umesh,” Jaffer tweeted.

Here is Wasim Jaffer’s tweet praising Umesh Yadav:

Indian openers, KL Rahul and Shubman Gill, negotiated the last half hour carefully to remain unbeaten on 19/0 and will look to dig in for big knocks tomorrow.
