IND vs BAN: WATCH: Angry Rohit Sharma’s Reaction To KL Rahul’s Drop Catch

India was stunned by Bangladesh on Sunday at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka as the hosts registered a 1-wicket victory in a thrilling low-scoring encounter.

Number 8 batsman Mehidy Hasan and number 11 Mustafizur Rahman produced an incredible 10th wicket partnership of 51* runs from 41 balls, out of which Mehidy scored 37 off 30 while Rahman scored 10 to take Bangladesh to a 1-0 series lead following completing the run-chase of 187.

The game had looked out of their reach when Bangladesh, after being in cruise control at 128/4, suffered a collapse to 136/9, losing 5 wickets for only 8 runs.

With little to lose now, Mehidy Hasan started swinging for the fences and missed a few, but those he connected well and into the gap hurt India. The Indian bowlers bowled poorly, bowling short to Miraz while stump-to-stump could have done the trick.

Mehidy Hasan was also given a lifeline by KL Rahul, wicket-keeping in this match. With the target still, 32 runs away, Miraz top-edged Shardul Thakur, but KL Rahul dropped a simple catch, which later on proved costly for India. On the next ball, Mehidy hit to deep third-man where Washington Sundar was late to pick the ball – perhaps missed it in the floodlight – and another chance went begging.

India captain Rohit Sharma’s reaction to these two incidences – in particular to Sundar’s non-attempt of the catch where he can be lipread abusing the youngster – has gone viral with fans slamming Sharma for such furious reactions to his teammates.

Earlier, Shakib Al Hasan’s five-wicket haul along with Ebadot Hossain’s four-for restricted India to 186. KL Rahul waged a lone battle with a 73-run innings. In the defense, the Indian bowlers were brilliant until they weren’t.

In his post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma was critical of Team India’s batting performance.

“It was a very close game. We did pretty well to comeback into that position. We didn’t bat well. 184 wasn’t good enough, but we bowled pretty well and they held their nerve in the end. If you look back how we bowled right from ball one – of course we would have loved to bowl better at the end – but we bowled pretty well for 40 overs and took wickets,” Rohit said.

“We just didn’t have enough runs. Another 25-30 runs would have helped. We were looking at 240-250 after the 25-over mark. When you keep losing wickets it is difficult. We need to learn and understand how to play on such wickets,” he added.
