IND vs BAN: Watch: Rohit Sharma Got Angry After Being Made To Wait In 1st ODI

India’s first tour of Bangladesh in seven years kicked off on Sunday with the ODI series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. However, Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, was left a bit miffed when he was asked to wait by the umpires before facing the first ball in the first ODI.

Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was ready with the ball in his hand and the two Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, too were ready to get the game underway. But everyone had to wait longer before the first ball was allowed.

Why was Rohit Sharma made to wait to face the first ball?

Rohit and Dhawan had walked in the middle about 5 minutes before the scheduled time of the start of the game. Sharma had taken his guard, but the umpires could only start the match on time and hence Rohit was asked to wait for a bit longer to face his first ball of the match.

Sharma looked unimpressed at the lengthy wait in the middle before he got to face Rahman.

The video of Rohit Sharma getting frustrated has gone viral on social media:

Everyone waited for the clock to strike 12 PM local time. As the players wasted the time around, Rohit and Dhawan engaged in a chat while the Bangladeshi captain, Litton Das, and bowler Mustafizur tried to move the fielders.

India bowled out for 186

The Indian batters couldn’t even last 50 overs on the turning, slow, low Dhaka surface as the visitors were bowled out for 186 in 41.2 overs. Former skipper Shakib Al Hasan took a five-wicket haul while pacer Ebadot Hossain snapped up 4 wickets. For India, it was only KL Rahul, batting at number 5, who tackled the Bangladeshi bowlers and the pitch well, scoring 73 runs off 70 balls with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes. The next best Indian batsman was Rohit with 27 runs at the top.

Earlier, India handed a debut cap to pacer Kuldeep Sen. Rishabh Pant is released from the squad and will return for the Test series, while Axar Patel wasn’t available for selection in the first ODI.
